Naturopathic Care

Naturopathic medicine promotes a holistic approach to healing that integrates science with natural therapeutics. The body has a built-in ability or wisdom of how to heal itself. Symptoms and pain are expressions of the body letting us know that something is wrong, and that the self-healing process has started. Many symptoms are influenced by the complex interactions of the body, mind and spirit. Identifying the underlying problem is key to completing the healing process. As a physician, my intention is to educate, empower and motivate a person to utilize the tools that will improve their healing potential, and to take personal responsibility for their health by adopting healthy lifestyle choices.

Diet, nutrition, exercise and lifestyle activities can impact the state of one’s health. Oftentimes, people only visit the doctor when they have already become ill or have been diagnosed with a chronic disease. Many people are unaware of how certain elements of our environment and personal health choices can effect the onset and expression of these disease conditions. Stress, infection, toxins and chronic inflammation are common underlying components that factor into this increased risk for disease expression. We all have a genetic susceptibility toward certain inherited diseases. However, research shows that healthy diet, nutrition and lifestyle plays a significant role in reducing the risk for certain diseases as well as improving the long-term outcomes of some conditions. There are specific elements in patient-specific nutritional therapy that can individually target a person’s health concerns. Prevention of disease is always the best cure!
